Academic Writing (A)

This course is a required one for international Arts students. For Thai students, they could choose it as a Major Elective course. It is a great class to make friends with foreigners. There is only one lecturer which may be different from mine depending on each semester. I took this course with A.Korakote, but I won’t talk about the lecturer much as there is only one lecturer provided. So, let’s see what the course is about!

As you can see from the course name “ Academic Writing”, you will learn lot of stuff in this field from the basic till the advance ones (paragraph writing, essay writing, literature review writing, etc.). The term project is an individual work. The main objective of this course is to learn how to avoid doing plagiarism. I believe many people think that they already avoid it as they don’t copy and paste directly as well as put some references there (I used to think like that). But, it’s wrong lol. There are some rules that we should know. You will know how to write a work correctly after learning this course.

In many countries, plagiarism is a very serious issue (in Thailand as well). All I want to say is that this course is very useful, especially for those who want to be teachers or do any job regarding to an educational field. They will be able to write their own assignments correctly.

วิชานี้เป็นวิชาบังคับสำหรับนักศึกษานานาชาติ(ที่เรียนอาร์ท)เท่านั้น แต่เด็กไทยจะเรียนเป็นวิชาเลือกก็ได้นะจ๊ะ ใครอยากมีเพื่อนต่างชาติก็ลงเรียนโลด มีอ.ท่านเดียว แต่ละเทอมอาจจะไม่ใช่คนเดียวกันน้า เราได้เรียนกับอ.กรกตแหละ แต่จะไม่ขอพูดถึงรายละเอียดอ.มากเพราะมันเลือกไม่ได้5555 ไปดูเนื้อหาที่เรียนกันดีกว่า

ชื่อวิชาก็บอกอยู่แล้ว 'การเขียนเชิงวิชาการ' ก็ได้เรียนทุกอย่างที่เป็นงานเขียนด้านนี้ไงล่ะ เริ่มตั้งแต่เบสิกเลย การเขียนพารากราฟ, เขียนเรียงความ ไต่ระดับมาเรื่อยๆจนเขียน literature review แอบกระซิบบอกว่าเป็นเทอมโปรเจ็คเดี่ยวนะจ๊ะ ใจหลักๆของวิชานี้คือห้ามลอกงานคนอื่น (plagiarism) หลายๆคนอาจคิดว่าการที่เราไม่ได้ก็อปวาง+ใส่บรรณานุกรมคือการเลี่ยงplagiarismแล้ว (เราก็เป็นหนึ่งในนั้นที่คิดแบบนี้มาตลอด5555) แต่อยากจะบอกว่าผิด!! มันมีกฎเกณฑ์ในการเขียนที่มากกว่านั้น หลังจากเรียนวิชานี้เราก็จะได้รู้วิธีการเขียนงานที่ถูกต้อง

สำหรับต่างชาติ การplagiarismถือเป็นเรื่องร้ายแรงมากๆ (คือในไทยมันก็เคร่งแหละ แต่ไม่เท่าต่างชาติ เพราะเชื่อว่าสมัยประถม+มัธยมหลายๆคนคงหาเน็ตแล้วก็อปวางส่งจบๆไป) เลยอยากบอกว่าวิชานี้มีประโยชน์มากๆโดยเฉพาะกับคนที่อยากเป็นอาจารย์หรือทำงานเกี่ยวกับด้านการศึกษา เพราะจะได้ไม่ทำแบบผิดๆให้ขายหน้าตัวเองเล่นไงล่ะ
